Still waiting on the word from Rick regarding the date and time of our first game. As soon as news breaks UCHC News @ 1 will be on it!
In the mean time, our guest analyst Darren Pang provided UCHC Online with an in-depth breakdown of this sessions team. His commentary as follows, and I quote:
UCHC, formerly known as, but not to be compared to or intimidated in any way by the Random Length's Hockey club, will begin session play in the coming weeks. With the return of the majority of their team, they should be poised for a return trip to the playoffs, hopefully breaking the barrier and avoiding the all-too-often early exit from post-season play.
Grizzled veterans Tim Reges and Nordy Siljander look to lead their young counterparts to their first ever Butler Dek Hockey Adult Co-Ed B Division Spring Session Title, but they will have to do so without the help of wirey stats-geek Justin Pott - who was known to spend 8 days a week studying every team, in every division. It is not a fact but is speculated that Pott has a draft board at his home with all of the under 12 year old players listed on it. Apparently he wants to get a jumpstart on the young talent that Butler Dek Hockey has to offer.
Oft leading scorer Curtis Carothers will return refreshed after surviving a nearly fatal encounter with a very dangerous female companion. One reporter noted, "I saw her leave and thought for sure she had gobbled him up." Curtis is joined by last season's team scoring leader Brandon Fehl as the top two offenders, hoping to strike fear into the opposing keepers' groins'. The club needs to rely heavily on the 2nd and 3rd line offense as well. Squirrel Nut Zipper Marky Reges and his Gemanic Horde of scrappy cousin, Travis Reges, and new comer Aaron Hobaugh will look to provide plenty of secondary scoring.
The defense will be strong with the return of Chad "Scuderi" Cranmer and Ryan "Urlacher" Gold being the shutdown #1 and #2. Eric Reges will be scurrying around their end of the dek as well. They will most likely be joined by rookies John McKindley, who had a brief stint in the big league a few years ago, but has spent most of his career in the minors, and Ben Brewster.
The best news of the off-season was word that goalie John Shoup would be returning for another season. After having one of the best seasons ever by a Dek goalie, Shoup looks to continue his dek dominance and lead his team into the sunset.
This is Darren Panger.
